State of Concept turned ten years old! Time flies!

We are launching a series of publications, celebrating ten years of exhibition making and critical theory production, and would love to share it with you. We have been working together with Archive Books Berlin, and an editorial team scattered across the globe over the past two years and our first titles are nearing completion.

Financially supporting the project will allow us to successfully send these books to print and get copies to your doorstep!

Our first publication involves our project “Gossips” that began at Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam and came at State of Concept in 2021, with new commissioned texts by Silvia Federici, Francoise Verges, Jennifer Higgie and many more. The voices in this volume come all together to challenge the ways and forms of thinking of the word “gossip”. The program brought together thinkers that re-generated and re-performed the original concept of ‘the gossip’, which originally meant a female companion, as a support structure for women’s ideas, thinking processes and exchanges.

Upcoming titles will include our findings from our research platform of “The Bureau of Care” that has been running since 2021, a tool for institutional good practice. Lastly we are now composing the content of our founding director’s writings, iLiana Fokianaki, in a volume with new and previous texts, discussing the history of the institution, addressing the challenges during the first years of the financial crisis but also the shift of the cultural ecology in Athens since our birth in 2013.

Thank you for your support and dedication over the years!

Sincerely,

State of Concept Athens team
