Event
State of Concept is happy to be hosting the seventh in a row all-night event entitled Athenian Nights, an initiative of Barbara Polla that has been presented so far in other European cities such as Paris, Geneva and Brussels.
Athenian Nights is inspired by the poetry readings organized by the Russian writer Varlam Shalamov (1907-1982) and other political prisoners during their confinement at the Soviet Gulag Camp.
For the duration of a whole night, people are invited to recite poems and read out loud texts of their choice. There will be no limitation in the ways of presentation, in the language or in style, so that an excerpt from the epic poems of Homer could be followed by a sonnet and end up as a performance.
A night dedicated to literature and poetry that will last all night long until the break of day.
Saturday 19th of December 2015, 9pm – 6am
Organised by: Βarbara Polla, Maro Michalakakos, Ellie Paxinou
